Research Interests

Jane Zhang is a PhD student in Comparative Literature and Film and Media Studies. Her research explores the intersecting histories of sectarian medicine and market research from the 19th century onward, focusing particularly on the transnational exchanges between Japan, Germany, and the United States. Her current work aims to construct a media history of the placebo effect, examining how scenographic practices manage perceptions and enact reality in commercial contexts.
