Jane Zhang
Biography
Jane Y. Zhang is a Ph.D. student in Comparative Literature and Film and Media Studies. She is interested in the comparative history of elementality—imaginations of the body as mediated by specific material forms such as water, air, and electricity—across medical, visual, and literary contexts. Her current research centers on the relationship between American vernacular medicine and the transnational history of advertising in the 19th century. Her previous work can be found at AN-ICON: Studies in Environmental Images and Medicine and Literature (forthcoming).
