Mistranslating Minority: Desire and Queer Marxism in the Italian Movimento del ‘77

In this talk, Dr. Bassi will look at experimental queer autobiographical writing to offer a new perspective on the Italian mass social movements that began with the student protests of 1968 and the factory strikes of 1969, and continued to shake the foundations of the Italian Republic throughout the 1970s. The talk will look at the way in which discourses about sexuality, class and social reproduction intersected to generate a new politics of desire in the Italian post-workerist movement.
