David Damrosch will discuss how Il Nome della Rosa gets reframed first internationally (in Jean-Jacques Annaud’s film version) and then nationally, in a recent RAI miniseries, connecting the ambiguities of localism and internationalism in both versions to elements in Eco’s original novel, and particularly its reflection of his “travels in hyperreality” in the USA.
