Alum Ayten Tartici Named Susan Kamil Emerging Writer by The Center for Fiction

We are thrilled to announce our PhD program alum Ayten Tartici has been named as a Susan Kamil Emerging Writer by The Center for Fiction, which received more than 1,000 applications this year. The entries were read and evaluated by over 200 readers, writers, and members of The Center for Fiction’s community. The final selection was made through a blind judging process by authors Elysha Chang and Mitchell S. Jackson—both alumni of the Fellowship—and Lisa Lucas, esteemed arts administrator, editor, and publishing leader.

Ayten will receive mentorship for a year from a distinguished editor and be given the opportunity to meet with authors, editors, and agents at monthly dinners. The Center for Fiction / Susan Kamil Emerging Writer Fellowship Program provides financial support, professional and creative development, personalized mentorship, and community engagement to nine early-career, New York City-based fiction writers. The Fellowship marks the beginning of a lifelong relationship with The Center.
