35mm | 2002 | Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering | USA | 85 minutes | French and English with English subtitles

One of the most influential and iconoclastic figures of the 20th century, French philosopher Jacques Derrida single-handedly altered the way we look at history, language, art, and film. Acclaimed filmmakers Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering created an innovative and entertaining portrait of the philosopher by questioning the very concept of biography itself. The film also features a mesmerizing score by Oscar-winning composer Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Please join us after the film for a conversation with the film's director, Amy Ziering, and Marta Figlerowicz, Yale Professor of Comparative Literature.

Sponsored by Yale Comparative Literature, Whitney Humanities Center, and the Poynter Fellowship in Journalism.
